FAQ

WHAT DOES THE STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

  1. Free discovery call, 30 minutes - This is an inquiry into your case. For both of us to ask questions.

  2. Initial consultation, 60 - 90 minutes - This includes the assessment process, paperwork, issues, health history, goals.

  3. A program is created based off the assessment results, paperwork findings and full health history, personalised to your unique situation. Program is explained thoroughly and in-depth. Any confusions are cleared up and mobilisations, stretches, exercises, practices and protocols are shown. We see each other on a once-per-week basis, at a minimum (case dependent).

  4. Starting the program!

  5. Adjustments are made to the program throughout as and when needed.

  6. Re-assessment and paperwork-reviewing timing depends upon case. Usually on the 6 week mark. More complex cases require this more frequently to monitor. Here, adjustments may be made.

  7. Progress is seen! If alleviation of symptoms, conditions and pain is seen before the end of the program, we keep going to see what else can be shifted - aka to see how good it can get!

  8. Celebrate, you feel great!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO SET UP AN INITIAL CONSULTATION?

Enter your details in the Long Form on the contact page for a discovery call and you will receive an email with further details. You will be required to complete some health questionnaires found on the Intake Paperwork page prior to scheduling your initial consultation.

For the bodywork - Kahuna or Rebalancing - enter the details in the Short Form on the contact page.

WHAT DOES AN INITIAL CONSULTATION CONSIST OF?

This is entirely dependent upon the type of client you are.

Spinal Condition - Posture - Injury:

Refer to the first FAQ. The initial consultation will be asking questions, noting any information that isn't already known and going through the orthopaedic and physical assessments. At the end you will be given paperwork to fill out so these findings can be put together with the assessment results and then we draw a plan up together.

Autoimmunity:

Refer to the first FAQ. We'll go through your health history, issues, goals, the 5 program design principles to come up with a plan specific to you and your needs..

Gut Dysbiosis:

Refer to the first FAQ. We'll go through your health history, issues, goals, the 5 program design principles to come up with a plan specific to you and your needs.

Chronic pain and Dysfunctions:

Refer to the first FAQ. Depending on the pains and the conditions, either the approach of Autoimmunity and Gut Dysbiosis or of Injury, Spinal Condition and Posture is taken.

Bodywork:

This is not paid-for as it is included within the bodywork appointment. There'll be intake paperwork for this, but it will not be as extensive.

Be mindful that though it looks like there are 5 types of clients, there is a lot of carryover from one type to the next so work, regardless of the type of client you 'fit into', often includes and requires looking at all of you. Said in another way, there aren't 5 type of clients I have and approaches I offer - there are as many approaches as there are clients because you are you and not anyone else.

IF I HAVE AN ORTHOPAEDIC ASSESSMENT, WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

It’s important for me that when I work with people in the gym or assessment room, that I am able to see the face, head and neck, as much of the torso and back as possible, the legs and the feet. Men usually just wear a pair of shorts and women tend to wear shorts and crop top or sports bra. Long hair needs to be tied up on the head.

I make markings using a makeup pen on the pelvis, spine, legs and back.

CAN YOU WORK WITH ME IF I LIVE OUTSIDE SURREY, SOUTH OF ENGLAND OR UK?

Yes, I do work with non-local and international clients. Some people I can work with totally remotely, others will need to fly in for a day or two every 2-3 months for assessments and in-person coaching and are coached in between online, unless they can find similarly or better qualified healthcare providers where they are located. I have an international network of trustable, reputable and quality practitioners which is used when needed.
I can see clients in the comfort of their own home or town if driving or flying in is not convenient. Things are flexible and we can talk about your dream and what you're needing during the free discovery call and initial consultation.

WHERE ARE WE BASED?

Based in Oxted, Surrey. For international clients visiting, the nearest airport is Gatwick and is 45 minutes by Uber give or taxi. Heathrow is further but also close by, being used for more cross-continental flights.

CAN I COME AND SEE YOU FOR A ONE-OFF SESSION?

With the work I do, it is rare that one session will ever get the result that someone needs. What I offer is geared towards people with have ongoing challenges - e.g. chronic, idiopathic pain - have frequently seen a number of other practitioners and their conditions do not respond to ‘quick fixes’, or even alternative methods. Except in very rare cases, I only work with people who are willing to commit for at least 3 months. More often and results-favourable is 12 months. Having said that, with change being the only constant, flexibility is important.

I’VE TRIED OTHER PROGRAMS, THERAPIES AND DIETS IN THE PAST WITH LITTLE SUCCESS. I'M AT MY WITS END... CAN YOU HELP?

Yes! We use a non-dogmatic approach to inquire into what's been holding you back and focusing on what you really want to get out of this, as well as why things haven't been successful before. Non-dogmatic is the key here. I know you are not a canvas for any particular method to be painted on - you are a human being, this is our point of reference. Unlike many approaches, we look to integrate personalised, holistic strategies to tackle the root causes of issues such as lower back pain, poor posture, gut dysfunction and chronic pain.

Many clients who struggled with previous methods find significant improvements with these programs. What sets this approach apart is my commitment to helping you reclaim your power to take control of your health, along with the depth of assessment. We work together on perspective and perception, an essential part of healing, to ensure your progress is both achievable and sustainable.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ACHIEVE RESULTS?

What if I told you that a disc bulge or herniation takes ~500 days / 18 months to heal? Our passive substructures take 4-7 times longer to heal than our active ones (muscle, fascia). While some opt for this duration of ongoing therapy - whether for a disc bulge / herniation, injury, or other health problem - you can often learn all the principles you need in a focused 3-6 month program with guidance.

A general guideline for injury recovery is to allow 2-3 months for every year you’ve been injured or in pain. You may notice pain relief within 4-6 weeks of treatment and programming, it’s essential to remain committed to maintaining pain-free movement and enriching habits you learn which support your desired goal the program is tailored to. This 3-6 month period is ideal for aligning your body’s biomechanics, improving posture, establishing habit transformation and achieving functional, efficient and effective movement. For autoimmune and gut dysbiosis of any kind, the the same applies. Gut healing can take as short as 6-8 weeks, done properly. Autoimmunity depends a lot more on client history and other factors.. More complex cases do require more attention, and, working with other healthcare professionals to create the optimal environment for the client’s healing is ideal, often required - particularly for specific spinal structure and function conditions. Ultimately, the duration is case- and individual-dependent.

True recovery, healing and rehabilitation is not simply being pain-free; it is being pain-free, as well as more functional, flexible, looser, stable, stronger and balanced than you were before the injury or incident (s) occurred, while also enjoying the life that is your’s.

WHY SHOULD I PICK YOU OVER A GENERAL, SPECIALIST, FUNCTIONAL OR INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE PRACTITIONER, PERSONAL TRAINER, PHYSIO, CHRIO OR OSTEOPATH?

Some things don't show up on labs, e.g. fungal and particularly parasites (not all the time, but sometimes), stress (biomarkers indicate stress in a quantitative manner, but not in a comprehensively subjective manner). Labs are expensive, is it realistic re-testing again and again?

The system I use breaks things down into simple steps that are structured based on foundational principles of health so we don't get lost in the minutia of precision medicine. It goes broader than micronutrients and biochemical pathways. The scientific community often want to know more and more about less and less components of us, but it leads them to knowing everything about nothing - and without implementable context in the grand scheme of things, said scheme being you. It is not helpful from this perspective. Information is not power, applied knowledge is power.

We need 6 principles to give us the best chance for healthy and happy living:

- Thinking - Breathing - Moving -

- Eating - Drinking - Sleeping -

With the above practitioners, they often do not have the capacity to work with all 6.

Breathing mechanics often requires targeted, scientifically-prescribed mobilisations and stretches to open up the diaphragm, ribs, front and back of the chest, and the belly; as does Moving correctly without creating faulty recruitment patterns that predispose us to injury down the line; the belly can't be fully opened unless Eating and digestive dysbiosis is addressed so the person's biochemical individuality needs are met; the Moving and our physical bodies can't be stabilised unless inflammation and gut issues are stabilised and balanced because the gut is deemed more important for survival than the musculoskeletal system

With my skills in orthopaedic and rehabilitative assessments and exercise selection, I am able to fill in the blanks the above practitioners cannot. However, in some circumstances, I end up working with the above practitioners (excluding GPs and personal trainers) to fill in the lab test or manual therapy blanks I do not yet have.

DO YOU WORK WITH OTHER PRACTITIONERS?

Yes! Working with mostly previously-unsolvable cases, there can often be lots of complexity. I have an Outsourced Referral Team which includes allied and complimenting healthcare providers. With clients in pain, x-rays or MRIs are needed to get a good prognosis which can be referred for by chiropractors and osteopaths.

For cases that I cannot provide everything required:

Certified McKenzie-Trained Clinicians and Manual Therapists

NUCCA Chiropractors

Remedial Therapists

NeuroSomatic Therapists

Certified Massage Therapists

Therapists that deal with organ massage, e.g. Chi Nei Tsang Massage

Holistically-practicing Osteopaths

Functional Movement Systems (FMS) Practitioners

Functional Medicine, Integrative Medicine and Naturopathic Doctors and Practitioners for labs and more specific, dialled-in insight

Biological (IAOMT), Airways (AMD) and Holistic, Mercury-Free Dentists

HOW DOES WHAT YOU DO HELP WITH AUTOIMMUNE, GUT DYSBIOSIS AND WHOLE-PERSON HEALTH?

We use very comprehensive paperwork that tests every system in the body (22-28) depending on whether you're male or female - gastric function, gastrointestinal inflammation, small intestine and pancreas, colon, hepatobilliary function, thyroid, adrenals, dysglycemia-L, dysglycemia-E, heart, circulation, depression, anxiety, anger, immune system (eyes, ears, throat, nose, lungs), urological, bone integrity, connective tissue, muscles and nerves, central nervous system, cognition, prostate health, premenstrual balance, menstruation, reproductive tissue inflammation, hormone balance, ovarian function, oestrogen / progesterone decline.

Orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, spinal, neurological, core and body-mind assessments are used to help you move healthfully.

There is always an easy-to-implement, step-by-step process personalised to you specifically, to your unique conditions, symptoms, and most importantly, your life.

We look at you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms, nor a condition / ailment / injury / pathology you've been diagnosed with, nor are you a canvas to apply onto a method that has been learned - you aren't a case to fix, instead you are an individual who is here to live and experience. Those two are very different.

HOW DO YOU BRING KAHUNA AND REBALANCING TO YOUR CLIENTS?

Once per week, it is brought in with clients who are either deeply in pain, or are presenting a very complex case. Whether Kahuna or Rebalancing, it settles the central and peripheral nervous system, fascia and muscles, digestive and eliminative systems as well as pumping the lymphatic system, allowing the receiver to 'sit' in themselves with greater intimacy. The healing journey is one painted with a yearning self-intimacy. Again, with complex cases, there is high-sensitivity in the client, so the settling allows for a greater capacity to learn through the 3-month process.

WHAT DO WE CHARGE?

Program pricing varies based on your requirements and the duration you choose. Each programme is bespoke and discussed in collaboration to ensure the best possible outcome.

Working in this capacity is an investment in your long-term health, and targets core issues for results that are tangible and sustainable. It goes beyond quick fixes, building the foundation of good health and sees to individual concerns.

Initial consultations are 100 GBP and are from 1.5 - 2 hours in length.

I DON'T GO TO A GYM, SO HOW CAN I DO THE EXERCISES?

My program packages adapt to the equipment you have available. For Private 1:1 sessions, I provide the equipment you’ll need. When we aren’t 1:1, I provide the option to purchase equipment, and if you have specific tools at home, we can incorporate them into your exercises.

My goal is to work within your means to help you resolve lower back pain, improve posture, and achieve lasting health.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED? / WHERE CAN I GET THE EQUIPMENT?

Swiss ball

90 x 10 / 15 cm foam roller

Blood pressure cuff

Gut soothing, regenerating and reinoculating products

These will all be available to purchase soon in an online shop on this website. You may be able to source these elsewhere cheaper, although quality does vary. The online shop will be open for ease and convenience.
